Anthony Chang (fundador y director de Sing2Learn) padeció las dificultades de aprender un idioma extranjero con enfoque tradicional.
Anthony se dio cuenta que era víctima de métodos complicados, por lo que decidió hacer el cambio. Después de estudiar inglés por más de diez años y pasar todos los exámenes, Anthony llegó a los EE.UU. Cuando se le preguntó, "¿Qué haces aquí?" Él quedó atónito y asustado, incapaz de hablar una sola palabra. Su sobrina en la escuela secundaria, vivió una situación similar. Ella sobresalió en la clase de español, pero cuando se le preguntó, '¿Cómo estás?' en español, ella también se quedó sin habla y confundida, incapaz de pronunciar una sola palabra.
¿Por qué? porque su aprendizaje fue equivocado.
El problema con el método tradicional de aprendizaje es que los tres primeros pasos se omiten: escuchar, imitar y hablar. En cambio, las modernas clases de lenguas extranjeras hoy en día, descuidan estos pasos y van directamente a aprender a leer y escribir.
¿La solución?
Nuestro fundador descubrió que el canto era una actividad divertida y atractiva, que incorpora los tres primeros pasos cruciales para el aprendizaje de una lengua extranjera. Su inspiración le vino de su otra sobrina cuando ella cantó "Los 50 Estados" en treinta segundos más rápido que él. Su propia hija, después de aprender 13 canciones en chino, podría hablar chino para él. ¿Cómo lo hicieron? Lo hicieron a través del canto. Envuelto en este descubrimiento, decidió escribir un libro llamado “La mejor manera de aprender idiomas extranjeros”. En 2010, este libro, que introduce el enfoque Sing2Learn, fue galardonado con el premio de Mom’s Choice Award, en la categoría de auto-mejoramiento.
